Frequently Asked Questions
Do you allow cakes to be brought inside without reserving a party package?
No. We do not allow any cakes to be brought into our facility unless you have purchased a party package through us. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. (This also applies to groups.)
Can we bring our own food/drinks?
We do not allow any outside food or drinks to be brought inside SkateTown.
Can I walk on the floor to assist my child?
We do allow parents to walk on the floor to assist a child as long as we are not extremely crowded. You do have to be standing with your child and helping them, not walking on the floor in front of or behind them. Children who are not wearing skates are not allowed on the floor at any time.
Do you offer the trainers/walkers to help children skate?
Yes, we do offer the trainers that help your child balance so that you do not have to help them. They can be rented at the front ticket office for $2.00 per hour. When we are busy, we are on a very strict one hour rental. They are on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis, and they are not included in the party package. However, please be aware that if your child is attending a birthday party, the trainer rental time continues to run even if your child is sitting down at the table.
Do you have people there that can help my child learn to skate?
We do not offer instructors during any of our public skating hours. However, we do offer beginner skating lessons every Saturday morning (you can find more information on our "lessons" page). We also have a couple of instructors who do private lessons. You will need to contact them to set up a time that works best for both of you!
Your website says you may be open for school holidays. Where would I be able to see if you are open a specific day?
We list all of our hours for school holidays under the "Holiday Hours & Specials" tab. If you are looking for a day other than what is listed, we may not be open that day, but please call us at 817-329-9988 or email us at skatetown1@aol.com to be sure!
Do you offer any coupons/specials?
We currently do not have any coupons available. However, we do have our "$7.50 Tuesday Night" special: Tuesday nights from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm are only $7.50 for admission and includes skate rental.
Do you have a dress code?
Yes. Generally our dress code is "school appropriate" clothing, so if your child would not be allowed to wear it to school, we ask that you do not wear it at SkateTown. For example: shirts that do not cover your stomach, shorts that are too short, clothing with inappropriate/suggestive wording, etc.
Are group rates available?
Yes, however, we do ask that you call at least 3 days in advance in order to get the special price. The group rate is given for a group of 15 or more. The group must call in advance and at least 15 of them have to show up at one time to get the group rate. The group rate would be the admission price for that day, and we give free skate rental ($4.50 off). The group rate is not given on days when skate rental is already included.
Can we bring our own skates?
Yes. We do request that you please hand carry your skates in and out of SkateTown. Also, they must be in good working condition (no missing brakes, wheels, or protruding bolts). We do not allow Heelys or any similar type of shoe that is not an actual skate or skateboards/scooters.
Do you provide safety equipment?
We do not, but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
Do you sell food and drinks?
Absolutely! We have a complete snack bar that serves mini pizzas, hot dogs, funnel cakes, soft pretzels, nachos, chicken nuggets, etc. We also offer a variety of candy, snacks, and chips, as well as soft drinks, bottled water, and Gatorade.
What sizes of skates can you rent?
Our traditional skates start at a toddler size 6 to adult size 16. Our inline skates start at a juvenile size 10 to adult size 13.
Can I rent out SkateTown?
Yes! We offer private parties when we are not open to the public skating. Please visit the parties page, and select "Private Parties". You may also call and ask to speak to a manager for more information.
When do I need to reserve my party?
We can take a reservation as soon as you are ready to book it. Our private parties typically fill up about 30-45 days in advance. Our public parties fill up about 10-14 days in advance. We can usually squeeze a party in, but it may not be at your desired time.
Do you allow skaters to leave and come back ("In and Out Privileges")?
No. We do not allow skaters to leave our building and come back later. Once a skater leaves our building, they are required to pay to come back in. This gives parents "peace of mind" to know that their skaters can not leave and come back at closing so that parents think they have been here the whole time.
Is there a charge for anyone who is not skating?
We do not charge parents (and children staying with them) if they are not skating. However, if someone under the age of 18 years old is being dropped off, we do charge the admission price.
